Halisahar police have arrested seven individuals in connection with a series of brass tap thefts reported across several wards of the Halisahar Municipality area. The operation was conducted by the Halisahar Police Station under the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate, following multiple complaints from residents regarding missing taps from residential premises.
According to police sources, incidents of brass tap theft had been increasing steadily in the locality over the past few days. Based on the complaints, police intensified surveillance in affected zones and identified suspicious activity linked to a coordinated group. The accused were arrested during a targeted operation, and multiple brass taps believed to have been stolen were recovered from their possession.
Preliminary interrogation of the accused revealed their involvement in the thefts. The police have initiated further investigation to trace additional stolen items and to determine the full extent of the group's operations. The suspects are currently in remand custody to facilitate extended questioning.
An official statement from the Barrackpore Police Commissionerate confirmed the arrests and recovery of stolen items. Authorities stated that the investigation is ongoing to identify other members, if any, and trace possible links to illegal resale or purchase of stolen materials.
